Love the look of the this pleated makeup bag. I find projects like this to be instance gratification, you spend a few minutes are your sewing machine and suddenly you have created something beautiful. You can use really an medium weight fabric such canvas, linen, satin even. The fusible interfacing adds a professional feel to the whole bag. It's really one of my favourite projects to make and it's so perfect for Mother's Day. It is currently for sale on my Craftsy Pattern Store.

I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I enjoyed making it!

Happy Sewing

Print off your PDF pattern and assemble all the pages.

Out of your fabric cut out all pieces. You should have two outer pieces, 2 interfacing pieces and two lining pieces.
Make sure to transfer all notches. Apply interfacing to the wrong side of the outer fabric.
Fold pleats and pin in place. Repeat for other side
Baste the top and bottom pleats and press. Repeat for both pieces.

Press the pleats flat.
Place your zipper face down on your outer piece.  Put the lining piece on top. Matching up raw edges. Pin all layers in place.
Using a zipper foot sew all layers together, stop 2-3” away from the edge and move the zipper pull out of the way. Finish sewing the seam.
Flip the lining and outer piece away from the zipper and topstitch through all layers. Sew 1/8” away from the edge. Press
Repeat for the other side.
Open up your zipper. Flip so that the outer pieces are right sides together and the lining pieces are right sides together. Match up all edges.
Sew around the edges, leaving a 3” opening at the bottom of the lining. If the seams are too bulky, trim them. You might have to trim edges by the zipper.
Flip the bag right side out through the opening in the lining.
Sew the opening closed. Give everything a really good press and enjoy!!

That purse looks fabulous! The design of it is very simple yet elegant looking. That purse, for sure, is durable because it is hand sewn. It looks easy to make. But honestly, I don't have any experience on doing something like that. It looks really fun, when you're the one making your purse. You can choose any design and customized it in whatever design you wanted it to be. Great blog!
